Zahnen, John L. beloved husband of Diana Zahnen (nee Cuffe) for 46 years, devoted father of John F. Zahnen, dear brother of Sheila (Bill) Boyle, Michelle (the late Ted) Muno, and LeeAnn Zahnen, also survived by many nieces and nephews. April 7, 2016. Age 68 years. Residence Anderson Twp. Memorials to Franciscan Haircuts from the Heart, Centennial Barn, 110 Compton Rd., Cincinnati, OH. 45215. John was born and raised in Chicago, IL where he attended St. Margaret Mary Elementary School and St. George High School. He lived in the West Rodgers Park neighborhood with his three sisters. He then moved to Cincinnati where he graduated from Xavier University with a B.S. in Business. While attending XU he met the love of his life, Diana. He worked at Gilman Paper Company as an industrial paper salesman for 18 years. His son John was his pride and joy and he coached his soccer, baseball and basketball teams. He was very proud of his work for the Democratic Party and had just recently been elected as a member of the Hamilton County Democratic Party Central Committee. He also served as a Democratic Ward Chair, Precinct Executive and President of the Anderson/Newtown Democratic Club. He was the Co-President of the St. Ursula Villa Parents Organization with his loving wife. He displayed his love of wildlife through his membership in the Audubon Society. Ever since he was a small child he was an avid birder. He spent many early mornings at Armleder Park and kept an extensive list of birds he had seen throughout his life. He owned and loved several dogs, including Zippy, Roscoe and Ernie. His passion for travel took him to Western United States, China, Canada, Italy, Greece and the Caribbean. He cheered for the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Bengals, which led to both joy and frustration. He will be greatly missed by all that he touched with his warmth, humor and spirit.
