Air Force and Football

I was in the Air Force after College . I went through ROTC in college probably like DON had done. We talked about my flying time in Laredo where I had received my jet training and playing football at OHIO..He liked talking about the old Air Force planes and the new ones. While talking one day about this subject we somehow got on to discussing football in Texas. There were lots of small schools there, like around my old hometown in Eastern Ohio, that did not have enough boys to feild 11 man teams. So I ask him about six man football. He was surprised to realize that I knew that six man football existed. Most people today that are sports fans have no idea that it existed. He told me that there are still small schools in Texas that play the game. My high school was big enough for normal football but since there's little towns around Barnesville Ohio play the game I from time to time want to watch them. DON apparently had done the same and we spoke about how fast the game was where everybody was eligible to catch a pass or run the ball. I will miss our chats about these and other subjects. He always wanted to hear about anything new that I knew about almost any subject. He was a very intelligent man. I worked for Xerox for 36 years after the Air Force ,13 of those as our account manager to Kroger. I learned a lot from him about the concepts he originated for the non food area of their business. I travelled to all 14 marketing areas of Kroger and almost all controllers of those KMA'S knew Don and would tell me about how good he was at what he had done to make Kroger successful in that part of their business. GOD will learn from him too.
