Marjorie Jeanne Toohey, always called Jeanne, age 95 and a long-time resident of Mt. Washington, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2017. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 24, 1922, Jeanne was the daughter of the late William and Anastasia (Klonne) Toohey. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha (Herschede) Roelvink, brothers William and Robert Toohey, and nephew Thomas Toohey. Left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews: Lynn (Don Bellgrau) Toohey, Pati Toohey, Dean (Valerie) Herschede, Fred (Marcia Sheridan) Herschede, Susan Toohey (Dewey) Anderson, Hank Toohey, Robert Toohey, and Mary Toohey. Jeanne spent her entire career working for Pogue's Department store, beginning in the early-1940s. She rose rapidly in the firm during the war and was one of the first female business executives in Cincinnati. She was a faithful Roman Catholic and a long-time member of Guardian Angels church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Guardian Angels, 6539 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH. 45230 on Tuesday, October 3rd at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Guardian Angels Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of Southwest Ohio for providing a place of peace and comfort during her last days. Her nurses, Susan and Liz, were particularly kind to Jeanne. We would also like to thank her attorney and friend, Thomas Gaier, for his compassion and advice. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Rd., Cincinnati, OH. 45220. T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home serving the family. www.tpwhite.com
