Barbara Jean O'Brien, age 69, of Anderson Township, passed away on September 1, 2023.
Barb was well known for love and dedication to her three daughters and eight grandchildren, her love of animals, her talent on the tennis court, and later, her love for pickle-ball. Born in Cincinnati, on July 4, 1954, to the late Edwin and Doris Eschmeyer, Barb was a fierce competitor, earning a spot on the Withrow High School Boys Varsity Tennis team in 1972, prior to Title IX and dedicated womens teams. Barb went on to attend the University of Cincinnati where she played tennis, achieving a ranking of #2 in the state of Ohio. Barb continued to play competitive tennis in her adult years. Barb was an accomplished equestrian and owned several pets over the years, most notable, her horse Sunshine, and her dog, Remy, her most special companion and favorite.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Eschmeyer. She is survived by her three daughters: Marci Wessels (Justin Tarbox) of Cincinnati; Patricia Ramsey (Robert) of Charlottesville; and Rebecca Wessels (Jeff Shaknaitis) of Chicago; eight grandchildren: Colin, Daniel and Juliet Tarbox; George, Anna, Eleanor and Joseph (Jay) Ramsey; and Theodore Shaknaitis; her sister, Judith Evans (Eschmeyer); and her brother, Gary Eschmeyer.
Funeral Service at T P WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mt. Washington on Thursday, September 7 at 12 Noon. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Thur. from 11 AM to 12 Noon. A private family burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery.
