Carl was a veteran of World War II, serving from October 30, 1946, receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Corporal in the U.S. Army on December 16, 1949. He then began a long and successful career in the produce business, culminating with his retirement from the Castellini Company of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1995. His Britney Acres neighbors became life-long friends, enjoying 40 plus years of parties, celebrations and camaraderie. Retirement was a time of great enjoyment for Carl and his family. He loved maintaining his beautiful yard, traveling, playing softball and spending time at his beloved Chaska Beach on Lake Erie. Carl taught all of his children and grandchildren to water-ski and he was kayaking and boating well into his 80's. His many friends at Chaska Beach will remember Carl cleaning the beach and always striking up a conversation with beach-goers. Carl never knew a stranger. There was no bigger fan of the Cincinnati Reds or Xavier University basketball. Carl was a devout and dedicated Roman Catholic. Upon retirement, he went to church every day he could. After Mass, he and a group of his friends, the McGeezers, met at McDonalds to solve the problems of the world. He was proud to be a Knight of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. Carl was a selfless man of integrity. He and Skip sacrificed all so that their children could attend Catholic schools and college. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
