Carol A. Osterfeld (nee Berning), passed away on Sat., April 8, 2023, the beloved wife of the late George F. Osterfeld. Carol was much loved by her children: Karen Korchmar (Michael), Mike (the late Nancy), Jeff (Sheri), Gary (Michele), Kevin (Debra), Mary Ann Tillman (Dave), her 17 grandchildren: Erin, Amy, Michael, Will, Joseph, Annie, Rachel, Jake, Andrea, Corie, Andrew, Ben, Paige, Claire, Sloane, James and Neil, and 11 great grandchildren (and several on the way!).
Carol was born in Cincinnati in 1936 and attended Little Flower Catholic School and Saint Ursula Academy. Carol Berning and George Osterfeld were married in 1956 at Saint Monica's Catholic Church in Clifton. They both lived their entire lives in Cincinnati where they also raised their family.
Carol was instrumental in her husband George's various business enterprises, acting as interior designer for C&O Construction and bookkeeper and buyer at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
Carol loved nothing more than cooking, providing for her ever-expanding family, and CLEANING--boy, could she clean! She was Club Champ on the tennis court and the world's most unselfish person off of it. Her favorite ritual was Happy Hour with George, unwinding the day with the latest news about her children and concerns for others. She was a volunteer for Hospice of Cincinnati in Anderson and at Guardian Angels Church. Carol was, in fact, volunteering the Saturday before her passing at the very same Hospice where she spent her last days, which speaks volumes about her character. She was a true believer in heaven and was convinced she was headed to be with George. May she rest in peace.
