Cynthia Cappel

October 4, 1957 — April 9, 2020

Cynthia H. "Cyndi" Cappel (nee Howard) age 62 of Anderson Twp., died April 9, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Tim Cappel, devoted mother of Matt (Julie) Cappel, Greg (Tara) Cappel, and Ellen Cappel, loving daughter of the late William and Libby Howard, and dear sister of Ginger (Jim) Redmond, Rob (Keri) Howard, and the late David Howard.

Cyndi Cappel was a dynamic person who’s every personal interaction seemed to make that person’s life just a little bit better. Cyndi, you see, was one of those rare people who seemed to find a connection with almost everyone she met by showing genuine interest, empathy and kindness with a warm smile. Cyndi made everyone feel comfortable or welcome! Cyndi had a very large group friends from seemingly all over and all walks of life, and had several very close friends that were like sisters to her, but she treasured every one of those relationships. Cyndi was mother to 3 beautiful children, and it was a mutual admiration society. She nurtured them all every day of her life and helped them develop into caring, warm thoughtful and productive people. Cyndi made sure our new family members (Julie and Tara) felt loved, and immediately part of the family. To many of our children’s friends as they grew up, the Cappel household was the place they wanted to be. This, of course, is perhaps partly due to her love of children and her training in that area. These kids felt comfortable with Cyndi and in our house, and I think they silently admired her grace, charm, sense of humor, wisdom and insight. She was quietly helping build their own confidence and maybe helping them deal with challenges of young life. She served as an unofficial mentor for many of them and they still adore her.
Cyndi was very interested in children her entire life. She ultimately received a master’s degree in this field, and spent 30 years in various areas of early childhood development, primarily helping young children, but was exceptionally gifted in coaching and inspiring young teachers, and she loved making a difference. She was very well respected in that field and was sought out for her insight and wisdom.
Cyndi at her core was all about family. Cyndi and Tim were married for 35 wonderful years and had so much fun together. They truly enjoyed each other’s company, we loved long drives, walks in the neighborhoods, binge watching a favorite tv show or spending time with mutual friends! It was easy to be Cyndi’s partner, she was popular, pretty and nice and loving. Cyndi’s three children, Matt, Greg, and Ellen were the real loves of her life. She nurtured them and built the skills the insights they needed to succeed and they loved her every minute for it. They will carry her spirit and wisdom into the next generation.
Finally, Cyndi was born in Nashville on October 4 1957. Bill and Libby Howard gave her a wonderful childhood that she spoke of often. Bill passed at relatively young age, but Libby was an integral part of Cyndi’s life and her children’s life until she passed in 2009. Cyndi had 3 siblings-- Ginger, David and Rob. Cyndi deeply loved her siblings and was intentional in keeping in touch and building their relationships.
None of us, are ready for a life with-out our dear Cyndi, and it will take time to manage our grief. However, as we all know, Cyndi would not want that. Rather, she would say, “Don’t be sad it’s over, be glad for the time we shared”. Let’s rejoice she lived a full life and is almost certainly in heaven!

So many people love you Cyndi, you will be greatly missed!
