Daniel Joseph Forman, born April 3, 1934, died Jan. 13, 2022. Son of the late Clyde and Laura Forman (nee Holtmeier, brother of the late Richard (the late Evelyn) and Thomas (Marlene) Forman, devoted uncle of Todd (Kathy) Forman and Keith (Alisa) Forman, great-uncle of Maia, Tess, Andrew, and Alexx, cousin of Mary Pat Holtmeier, Joyce (nee Holtmeier) Jansen and Mary Lou (nee Holtmeier) Hackman, and dear friend Gloria Diehl
Dan (Danny) was never married and had no children. A lifelong pianist, who spent much of his life performing at nightclubs, restaurants, and other local venues. He was the summer coach for the Cincinnati Opera for many years and played organ at many Catholic churches around Cincinnati. Dan spent 30 years performing on the Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen steamboats, traveling up and down the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers for months at a time. Dan played in the Dixieland Jazz Band while on the steamboats and was known as Professor Forman as he played non-traditional popular songs on the calliope. Dan had countless friends throughout the world who enjoyed his entertaining performances and original, often irreverent, songs. The late Dr. Dona Buel, a local highly accomplished pianist and former professor at Xavier University, said that Dan was the "best jazz pianist" she had ever heard.
After his retirement in 1999, Dan spent time taking care of his ailing older brother Richard, doing yard work and collecting "treasures" from the many driveways on garbage night. Dan also loved spending time with his grand nieces and nephews, to whom he was known as uncle "pack mule" since he would often carry then on his back, sometimes four at a time. Dan also loved taking care of his many cats over the years, many of which he named "Sister", "Cousin", or "Sister Cousin".
