Dennie L. Valentine, age 75, born December 17th ,1947, to Caleb and Nora from Heidrick, KY, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 2023.
Dennie was blessed to find the love of his life, Mary, whom he married on October 6th, 1978. They completed their family after welcoming their two sons, Doug and Scott. Dennie was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren who all loved their "papaw" very much!
At an early age he developed a love for sports and that continued throughout his whole life. Dennie was an avid golfer who enjoyed golf outings with his family and friends. Even recently he picked up a new love of pickleball through Forestville Baptist Church. He was well known for his ability to play cornhole, ping pong, and bowling. Another one of his passions was his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats, his alma mater.
As a loving father, he enjoyed being active in his two sons' lives. He valued the opportunity to coach both children during their youth. According to him, these years of coaching were some of the best of his life. Dennie was passionate about caring for his family and was always eager to lend a hand with any home improvements.
Dennie and Mary loved to travel along with their family and friends and were fortunate to see most of the United States. Some of Dennie's other hobbies were reading novels, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dennie always considered himself a Christian, but really developed a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, over the past couple of years. He had started reading his bible regularly while attending Sunday service and Bible study at Forestville Baptist Church.
Dennie is survived by his wife Mary, his two sons, Doug (Kelly) and Scott (Ashley), and their grandchildren, Silas, Malachi, Josh, Teegan, and Paisley, and his siblings Harold, Don, and Jerry. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Thelma, Kenneth, Carroll, Jeree, John, and Jimmy.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 at Forestville Baptist Church, 1311 Nagel Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45255 at 6pm. Friends may visit the Church on Monday, from 4pm-6pm.
