Dorothy "Dot" Adele Corry (nee Kneipp) was born May 6, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and went peacefully to be with her Lord on August 13, 2020 at age 98. Dorothy was married to Joseph Corry on June 6, 1942 at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon Joe’s return from WWII, they started their family: Joseph William, Sr. (Maureen), Grace Adele, Gaillynn Marie (Gerard) Bardon and James Patrick (Gloria). Dorothy was also a loving Grandmother to 10 Grandchildren: Joseph (Purchit) Corry Jr.; Christopher (Jolie) Corry; Michelle Corry; Geoffrey (Janelle) Bardon; Gregory (Kristen) Evans; Genylynn (Sean) Cosgrove; James Evans Jr.; James Corry Jr.; Geremy (Teresa) Bardon; Gerard (Erica) Bardon; in addition to 19 Great Grandchildren. Dot was the second of 15 children: Mary Louise (Jacob) Fricker; Dorothy Adele (Joseph) Corry; Eleanor Ruth (James) Duffy; William Guilford (Delores) Kneipp; Eugene Arthur (Ernestine) Kneipp; Joseph Richard (Jacqueline) Kneipp; James Leonard (Martha) Kneipp; Elizabeth Jewel (Robert) Cunningham; Thomas Bernard Kneipp; Rose Anne (Carroll) Brewer; Rita Margaret (Ralph) Meineke; Robert Allen (Janice) Kneipp; Raymond Frederick (Alwine) Kneipp; Charles Gregory (Jane) Kneipp, and Grace Charlene (Thomas) Packer born to Joseph William and Grace Elizabeth (Bohn) Kneipp. Aunt Dot was a loving aunt to 45 nieces and nephews; 52 Great nieces and nephews; 31 Great, Great nieces and nephews as well as 1 Great, Great, Great nephew.
Dorothy attended St. Margaret of Cortona Grade School in Madisonville and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Hyde Park. She worked as a comptroller for Sperti, Inc., which manufactured various instruments (e.g., bomb sites, mercury switches, gauges, etc.) for the U.S. Navy and Army Air Corps during the War years. Later, she administratively supported her husband’s business – Corry & Porter Builders. She subsequently went into Real Estate becoming a licensed Broker. She was very active in her Church, St. Thomas More in Withamsville, including as a member of the Church choir. Dorothy eventually pursued her vocation to become a lay Carmelite, which involved completing several years of study and formation and eventually made her Profession under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday September, 5 th at 10:00AM preceded by a ½ hour visitation at St. John Fisher Catholic Church 3227 Church Street (Newtown) Cincinnati, Ohio 45244 (facemasks and social distancing are required) Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery following Mass (private for family only due to COVID-19 concerns) T.P.
