Douglas Bryon Schaeffer passed from this world into the next on Tuesday August 31st, 2021, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Doug is survived by Terri Mann, his wife of fifty-two years, his five children Tricia (Mark) Mason, Tracie (David)Pierce, D. Bryan Schaeffer, Heidi (Ryan) Clark, and Kelly (Jared) Schaeffer-Bullock, sixteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, his mother, Jane Schaeffer, and his seven siblings, Cliff (Kathy) Schaeffer, Wendy (Gene) Swiatnicki, Becky (Paul) Jhona, Peggy (John) Dunsmore, Nora (Richard) Glab, Melissa Schaeffer, and Jim (Arlene) Schaeffer.
Doug was born July 15, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Edward James Schaeffer and Jane Adele Groth and was the eldest of Ed and Jane's eight children. Doug's life was a testament to everything that can be accomplished when a person combines natural talent with hard work. Doug became a scholar athlete and was awarded a basketball scholarship to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He received an MBA from the University of Utah and had a successful career in business and finance.
These accomplishments pale in comparison to his devotion to his church, his family, and his country. He served as a bishop to his congregation for over eight years. He served his family with the entirety of his heart for all his life and inspired others with his patriotic love of country.
His memorial service will be held Saturday September 4th, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 700 Clough Pike Cincinnati, Ohio 45245. In lieu of sending flowers, a donation can be sent in his name to The Prostate Cancer Foundation at www.pcf.org.
