Douglas A Geverts passed away peacefully on February 10th, at the age of 58, after a 2-year battle against esophageal cancer.
Son of Lois and Jim Geverts, Doug was born on August 16th, 1966. He went to Colerain High School and then to Vocational where he discovered Graphic Design. Doug worked at Magnagraphics and Deskey (Design agencies) before landing at Kenner/Hasbro where he led the packaging production group. He was a huge Star Wars fan and felt extremely lucky to work on all the Star Wars toy packaging. Once Hasbro left Cincinnati, Doug decided to retire.
Doug and his wife Jean (Campbell) met in 1986 and were married in 1988. They welcomed their daughter Samantha (Sam) in 1990. Throughout the years, Doug and Jean added several more children, of the canine persuasion, to their family. Doug cherished all of their dogs, and was survived by 4 of his beloved Siberian Huskies - Kayla, Apollo, Rex and Ryder.
Doug is survived by his wife Jean, their daughter Sam, his mother Lois and his two sisters Mary Ellen and Lisa.
Doug's family extends a special thanks to the staff at OHC and the nurses of Hospice of Cincinnati.
Per Doug's request, there will be no service or funeral. His family will be celebrating his life in private. Donations in his name may be made to the Indiana Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue or the Cincinnati SPCA.
