Elaine Silvernell, born Elaine Girten, passed away peacefully on 10/1/2024 at the age of 96.
She is survived by daughters Diane Coil, Sherry Martin, Gayle Rumble, Tina Harmon and Wendy Doran. Kimerly George predeceased her. Elaine is also survived by eight grandchildren, and a significant number of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Elaine’s youth was during the great depression and her teens were during WWII. Elaine survived the Ohio river flood of 1937 when the river rose so high, it picked up her grandfather’s barn and floated it down river (along with some houses).
She married Blaine Harmon in 1946 and later worked at their company, Harmony Sheet Metal. She later worked at their marina, Ole Suzanna in New Richmond. Ohio. After his passing, she married Jack Silvernell, who also predecessed her.
Elaine volunteered in the Daughters of the Nile Sewing Unit. Contributing lovingly over 1,500 hours to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Among other things, she made therapy dolls for the Doctors to use for demonstrating things to their patients. For years she was an active Republican Party volunteer; distributing information and supporting the various candidates. She was also active in the Cranston Memorial Presbyterian Church.
The celebration of life service for Elaine Silvernell is being limited to immediate family members.
