Elizabeth Ann Kij (nee O'Connor), age 83, died peacefully on Saturday, November 7th, 2020. Beloved wife of 63 years to Leo J. Kij. Loving mother to Kathleen (late Roger) Spurgeon, Rebecca (Dan) Doogan, and Leo (Lori) Kij, Jr. Cherished grandmother to Kathleen (Luke) Linz, Noel Spurgeon, Laurel Spurgeon, Joe Doogan, and Liam Kij. Dearest great-grandmother of Miles, Audrey, Leo, Louis, Rose, and Frank. Treasured sister to Jerry O’Connor, Kay Rojek, Eugene O’Connor, Mary Vickerd, and the late Karen Mann.
Born in Lackawanna, New York, Elizabeth married the love of her life on September 21st, 1957. In August of 1973, they moved their family to Cincinnati, Ohio. Their new neighbors became good friends and Leo and Elizabeth have always considered them one of the greatest blessings in their lives.
For many years Elizabeth was a bookkeeper – first in retail and later as an integral part in the startup of her son-in-law’s private accounting firm. She loved her family, gardening, Irish music and being together with her “bestest” Leo. Those who knew her will always remember the twinkle in her eye and her smile that could light up a room. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who loved her.
With thankful hearts, the family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care Elizabeth received from her many caregivers at Arden Courts of Anderson – especially during Covid restrictions when we were unable to spend time with her ourselves. We are aware of the many times they went the extra mile to help her feel safe and loved and we will be forever grateful.

An Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
