Our hearts are heavy as we announce that our Mother, Etta Mae (Lambert) Williamson, left this world to enter through the gates of Heaven on December 5, 2024 at the age of 91.
The daughter of the late David Lambert and Erma (Monk) was born on May 14, 1933, in Portsmouth, OH.
Etta was presided in death by George Williamson, her devoted husband of 44 years as well as her sister Rosalie Bader, and two of her children; Billy Williamson and baby Williamson.
She is the loving Mother of David (Lisa), Georgetta (Tom) Hare, Mary Ann Hartmann, Heather (Dave) True and Andrew (Denna).
Etta was also blessed with 12 grandchildren: Carrie, Paul, Eric, Tasha, John, Matthew, Stacy, Stephanie, Kendree, Drew, Kyle and George. She also has 13 great grandchildren (with two more on the way) and 2 great great grandchildren.
Etta had an unshakable faith and love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She strived to be His hands and feet to everyone who she served offering compassion, empathy and love.
Etta enjoyed a lifelong career in nursing. She graduated from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati in 1954. After graduation, Etta worked on the medical surgical floor at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She and her husband and their two children moved to Detroit, Michigan for a few years where she worked at the Henry Ford Hospital, and she became the head nurse in the Labor and Delivery Department at Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
In 1972, Etta, her husband and now five children moved back to Cincinnati and subsequently returned to Jewish Hospital where she worked as a night shift supervisor while earning her BSN from Edgecliff College in 1980.
In 1984, Etta transferred to Anderson Mercy where she mentored new graduates as well as nursing students. She loved to share her knowledge with other nurses. She was known to those who worked with her for her traditional approach, always wearing her nursing cap and personally attending to every detail of her patients' care.
After her retirement in 1995, she continued to volunteer at Mercy Anderson Hospital for many years.
While attending Eastgate Community Church (ECC) she volunteered assisting with the Prayer Team Ministry. This allowed her love of Christ to be expressed as she called those that needed prayer and offering them prayer, hope and encouragement.
She loved to travel and had a love of the water. Whether it was combing a beach searching for that perfect shell as she walked along the water's edge or simply relaxing in a pool. However, her love of Reading, Gardening, Flowers and Bird Watching were her true passions. Even as time drew near, she enjoyed watching her birds from her window at her facility.
Etta will be remembered as having an unwavering love for her Savior and for her family and always being willing to "answer the call" when someone needed help or when they fell ill or needed some extra care.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11am at Eastgate Community Church, 3235 Omni Drive. Cincinnati. Friends may visit the church from 10-11. Graveside service to follow at Mt Moriah Cemetery.
