Floriene Martin (nee Gist) passed away October 25, 2021. She was born in Parsons, KS on September 24, 1921, and had recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was the devoted wife of the late Marvin L. Martin, daughter of the late Guy and Esther Gist, mother of Janece (Dennis) Heis and the late Lloyd (Elaine) Martin, loving grandmother of Eric Martin, also survived by her grand dog Joey who visited almost everyday and brought her extreme joy, along with many nieces and nephews. She had an interesting life going to a one room school. The Gist family moved often due to her father working on the MKT railroad. While in Lindale, MO, her father built a house out of railroad boxcars. They also lived in other small towns of MO, such as Herman, Appleton City, and Moundville. She met her husband in California during WWII and upon his return helped him through college and law school by working as a beautician until her children came along. They moved from Lakewood, CA to Grosse Pointe, MI, Huntington, WV and finally Cincinnati, OH. They traveled often to visit relatives all over the USA. Their main hobby was square dancing and teaching round dancing. Her family would like to thank Arden Court of Anderson and Heartland Hospice for the years of care given to our loved one, with a special shout out to Rita, her loving hospice nurse of five years. Service will be held at T. P. WHITE & SONS Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt. Washington on Wed. Nov. 3, at 11 AM. Friends may visit on Wed. from 10-11 AM. Memorial donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St., Suite #1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
