Gary Braun

April 26, 1949 — February 11, 2024

Gary Lee Braun, 74, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on February 11, 2024, in Cincinnati. Born on April 26, 1949, in Cincinnati, Gary dedicated his life to his family, taking pride in his work, and his hobbies.

Gary was a wonderful father who worked to instill a mentality in his children to "love people unconditionally". He was known for his quiet and reserved nature, preferring to spend his time with family or simply hanging out home when he wasn't working. .

In 2020 Gary retired after a successful and long career. For over 50 years, Gary served as a double licensed Barber and Beautician in the Hyde Park and Mount Lookout Square area. His skills and dedication earned him a loyal client base. We have received so many stories of Gary going above and beyond for his clients, making countless home visits to his client's homes during unique circumstances to taking appointments during his day off work or coming in late at night to ensure his clients were serviced. Gary always wanted to go above and beyond to show his clients how much he cared. Gary even competed in hair competitions during the prime of his career. Gary truly enjoyed serving 1,000s of clients and took extreme pride in his work.

Outside of his career, Gary had a passion for breeding fish and loved spending time with his dogs over the years . Gary enjoyed animals! He meticulously cared for countless fish tanks over the years and found joy in watching the fish thrive under his care. Even in his final days, he continued to tend to his fish and found solace in their presence.

Gary is survived by his three dedicated children, Tanya (Kip) Rosier, Todd (Karen) Braun, and Tara (Mark) Metzger. He was also a loving grandfather to six amazing grandchildren: Conner, Peyton, and Anna Rosier, Garrett and Addy Braun, and Xavier Metzger. Additionally, Gary is survived by his former wife and best friend of over 50 years, Jerri Braun, who provided him with endless support and friendship since their teenage years.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Leona Braun, and his brother, Lawerence Braun all from Cincinnati, Ohio.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a source of comfort, strength, and hope. In his final days Gary did share he hopes he will be known as simply being a "nice person". We hope as you reflect everyone will have the renewed opportunity to love unconditionally.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Gary's memory to Hospice of Cincinnati or the University of Cincinnati Foundation, UC Medical.
