Hedi Scheidel

November 10, 1971 — July 22, 2013

Scheidel, Hedi Lynn was a blessing to her friends and family. She was a thoughtful and trustworthy friend who excelled at encouraging others. She had a special gift of connecting with children. Hedi passed away on July 22 at the age of 41. She is survived by her husband Travis Etling, father Rolf Scheidel, mother Bonne Spychalski (Bob), sister Julie Croy (Paul), step-sister Ardin Armenio (Anthony), nephews Taylor and Holden, nieces Anna and Lily, Travis parents Arlen and Lana Etling, Travis sister Melissa Kritzer (Nathaniel), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Hedi was born in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from Sylvania Northview High School, Baldwin-Wallace College, University of Cincinnati (M.Ed. in School Psychology), and University of Kentucky (MSLS). She worked for 12 years as a school psychologist for the Clermont County Educational Service Center. Hedi most recently served for three years for the Campbell County Public Library as a Reference Librarian and then as Children s Outreach Services Coordinator at the Cold Spring Branch. She was an active member and volunteer with the Cincinnati Friends where she helped to facilitate a monthly youth group. She previously attended Crossroads Community Church where she volunteered in Kids Club and traveled with a group to build homes in South Africa. She also led children s bereavement groups at Willow Wood Center for Grieving. Hedi enjoyed music, yoga, reading, cooking and working with animals. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Cincinnati Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), 8075 Keller Road, Cincinnati.
