Bush, Helen E. our loving mother, grandmother, greatmother, sister, aunt and friend, went peacefully to the Lord on July 6th, 2013 with family by her side under the care of U.P.Home Health and Hospice and Mill Creek Assisted Living. Helen was born on July 22nd, 1913 in Petersburg, Ky. She was the 2nd of 5 children to Robert and Nellie Grant. She was brought up on a farm in northern, Ky. Helen graduated from high school, where she became an all state basketball player in 1932, and then attended a 2 yr. teaching college. The then fiery redhead began her teaching career in Boone County, Ky. It was while teaching at her first job that she met William B. Rogers, Jr., who she later married and had 2 children, Ella Jean and Sandra. Tragically, Bill died at the age of 44 and she was left to raise 2 small children. She returned to college and graduated from Eastern Ky. University with her bachelor's degree in ed. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to continue her teaching career. It was there she met Lester Emrick, a retired principal. They married and spent several yrs. travelling the world together. Sadly, Lester died suddenly of a heart attack after 6 years together. One of Helen's favorite things to do was to play bridge. She was fortunate enough to have met Norman Bush at one of her bridge clubs. They soon married and were blessed to have spent almiost 13 years travelling, playing bridge, watching college basketball, the Cinti. Reds and just enjoying felllowship with numerous friends and family. In 2001, Helen moved to Marquette, Mi. to live with her daughter Sandra Howes and son-in-law Cameron. Until 2011, she spent 6 months in Marquette and six months in Arizona with her eldest daughter, Jean Cook and son-in-law Bob. In June, 2011, she decided to move to Mill Creek Assisted Living. At the young age of 98 she took up knitting and jewelry making. She leaves behind her 2 daughters: Ella Jean Cook (Bob), Sandra Howes (Cameron), grandaughter Andrea Monnett (Brad), grandchildren Braylon and Maria Monnett, a sister, Anna Mary Hensley, and a niece and nephew. Funeral service will be held at the T.P. White and Sons Funeral Home at 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt. Washington 45230 on Sat. July 13, at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will be from 11-12 Noon. A memorial service will also be held on July 22nd, 2013 at 3 p.m. on the anniversary of her 100th birthday, at Mill Creek assisted Living Facility, in Marquette, MI.
