Howard Mushaben

March 22, 1922 — June 8, 2020

Howard Joseph Mushaben has finally completed his life on this great earth which he loved so dearly and met his Lord on June 8, 2020. He passed away in his favorite chair; having just celebrated 69 years of marriage with his wife, Elaine (Ober) Mushaben. He is preceded in death by: his parents, John and Emily (Nordloh) Mushaben; siblings, Robert Mushaben, Virginia Mushaben and Audrey Mushaben. Surviving children: Joyce Mushaben (spouse, Harry Few, deceased), Diane Otrembiak (spouse, Jim), Mary White (spouse, Ken), and Paul Mushaben (spouse, Janell). The joy in his life were his grandchildren: Katie White, Daniel White (spouse, Devan), Natalie Ellsworth (spouse, Kyle), Mallory Mushaben, Candice Otrembiak (spouse, Jordan), Jake Mushaben, Joshua Few, Maddy Mushaben, and John Mushaben. His heart was filled with his two great grandsons, Desmond and Rowan.

No less important to him were all his extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews. They can attest to his forever taking their pictures for all of their big events in life. There was nothing more important to him then close family relationships, and staying in touch with one another.

Born March 22, 1922, he was a very devoted son and brother. He served his country well in WWII being stationed in England to schedule pilots’ training for the Normandy Invasion. After which, he raised his family in Anderson Township and was very active at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. As any empty nester, he and Elaine became actively involved with St Rose, where they took part in charity events with lots of friends from times gone by.

Always the avid sports fan, he loved his Reds, Bengals and college basketball. He was part of a championship CYO softball team with his buddy, brother-in-laws. He was the ultimate southpaw pitcher.

The span of his 98 years saw many amazing and wonderful things, but his focus on God, family and country ruled his heart to the end. He helped all who needed it with the friendliest, outgoing personality. His smile, hugs, sermons and love will be missed forever.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose Church on Thursday, June 11 at 9:30 am. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 9 to 9:30 am. Memorials may be directed to St. Rose Church or Roger Bacon High School. T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home serving the family.
