Hubert Phillips Jr.

Phillips, Hubert E. Jr. "Herb" passed away Sept. 8, 2016 in Lubec, Maine. Born Aug. 27, 1933 to Hubert and Mildred Phillips. Beloved husband of Bonnie Hanser Phillips, loving father of Sandy (Bill) Kirkham, Mike (Sue) Phillips, and Wendi (David) Smith, devoted step-father of Robin (Scott) Dillon, Maleah Wright, Cathi (Ted) Nagel, and Jeff Sullivan, also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, dear brother of Steven and the late Donald Phillips, and Patricia Phillips Allen. After earning his degree in Social Work at the University of Cincinnati, he worked in the juvenile court system finishing his career at Hillcrest School for troubled youth. Herb was an US Army veteran during the Korean War and involved in various activities throughout his life which included competitive water-skiing, gourmet cooking, snow skiing, volleyball, kayaking, and competitive tobogganing. He was an avid hiker, he and his son hiked part of the Appalachian Trail and a motorcycle enthusiast, he also traveled cross country and enjoyed skydiving well into his 60's. He was a member of the Lubec School Board, Masonic Lodge #37 F & AM of Lubec, ME and a member of the West Lubec Community Methodist Church. Herb could always be found with a friendly smile and a hug. Service at T P WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mt. Washington on Sat. Sept. 17, at 3 PM. Friends may visit on Sat. from 2-3 PM. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
