Irene Walters

Irene A. Walters died January 7, 2019. She was 97 years old and a resident of Saint Margaret Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Walters was born on December 17, 1921, in Lorain, Ohio, the daughter of Vincent and Augusta Kaplow Walters. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1940, then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and attended University of Cincinnati Teacher's College, graduating in 1943, and University of Cincinnati Liberal Arts College, graduating in 1944. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She taught English and Journalism at Western Hills High School in Cincinnati from 1944 until she retired in 1980. She then worked as a librarian at Gamble Junior High School and Western Hills after her retirement. She was a member of Guardian Angels parish and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church, 6531 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Memorials are suggested to Saint Margaret Hall, 1690 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206; Guardian Angels Church; or the charity of your choice.
