James (Jim) Berk Hight, age 77 of Amelia, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, after a lengthy hospital stay.
Jim served in the United States Army from 1969-1971. He played the trumpet and french horn in the army band. Jim was well-liked; family and friends enjoyed his wit, sense of humor, and extreme kindness. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hiking and backpacking. An avid hiker, Jim and Bonnie explored trails across the country. He especially enjoyed hiking in the mountains and visiting National Parks.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents James S. and Lois (Berk) Hight. He had one sibling, Robert M. (Sheryl) Hight. Jim and Bob remained close throughout their adult lives. Jim married Bonnie Louise Trees on November 8, 1980. They had one son, James Merrick. One of Jim''s greatest pleasures was spending time with his son. Jim was a devoted husband and father. He will be missed deeply by his nieces, nephews, family, and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to the Cincinnati Nature Center, 4949 Tealtown Road, Milford, OH 45150.
