James Moses

November 21, 1917 — October 28, 2013

Moses, James N. \"Jim\" passed away on October 28 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 95. Jim leaves behind his wife, Dorothy Moses, daughter Linda (John) Novak (Chicago), stepdaughters Diane (Rod) Zavisin and Jan (Greg) Plummer, and stepson Doug (Beverly) Batson. Jim was born in Oxford, NJ, the son of Harold H. and Emily Moses. A long-time resident of Louisville, KY, he earned a bachelor's degree from Moravian College and a master's degree in chemistry from Lehigh University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Savannah as a Lieutenant gunnery officer. He also served in the Naval Reserve after the war. He worked for Devoe & Raynolds Co. and retired from Celanese Corporation as a research chemist in 1982. Jim and Dorothy were married in 1999 and were long-time residents of Louisville, KY. They were active members of the Young Hearts theater group. Jim enjoyed volunteering, gardening, woodworking and was an avid reader. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville on Nov. 5, 2013. Memorials may be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project in honor of those in military service.
