James F. Sandmann, age 86 of Anderson Twp., died April 11, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Gail D. Sandmann (nee Hegge), devoted father of Laura Sullivan, Lynn (John) Cochran, Lisa (John) Imbus, and Amy (Ted) Ackerman, loving grandfather of Shane and Brendan Sullivan, Allison (Robert) Cambruzzi, John (Sara) Cochran, Molly (Max) Hudson, Joseph (Hayley), Samuel, and Zachary Imbus, and Timothy and Julia Ackerman, caring great-grandfather of Tripp, Luke, Catalina, Jack, Charlie, Jane, and Simon, dear brother of JoAnn (Tom) Gallenstein, and the late Patricia (Jim) Chaney, and Robert (Jane) Sandmann, brother-in-law of Linda (Bill) Koeppel, David Hegge, and the late William Hegge. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Throughout an impressive career, he led efforts to improve health access to underserved populations, receiving the Richard H. Schlesinger Award in community health planning. "PaPa" will fondly be remembered as a wonderful storyteller, fisherman, history buff, and faithful Red's and youth sports fan. Known to be spotted at a local coffee or donut shop - Jim made friends through his sense of humor, ease of conversation, and warm smile. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Guardian Angels Church on Saturday, April 17th at 10:30 am. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9 am to 10:30 am.
