Janet Willenborg

February 24, 1948 — September 30, 2024

Janet Ann Willenborg, 76, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born February 24, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the youngest child of Frank and Marie (Schmitz) Willenborg.

Janet went to Regis High School in Cedar Rapids. She attended Briarcliff College in Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated from St. Louis University. She went on to obtain a master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Purdue University. She moved to Cincinnati in 1972 and worked for 35 years at Clermont County Educational Service Center. She was a gifted speech pathologist and was a longtime staff supervisor, retiring in 2007.

Janet cherished her strong faith in the Lord and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cincinnati. She had many friends and enjoyed playing in her bridge groups, or at the casino poker machines. Her real passion was watching her beloved Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals and found herself working at the Reds ticket counter in her retirement. She was a loving and caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a whiz during family card games on the holidays and her laughter was always abundant.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her survivors: brother John (Sheri) Willenborg, her sister Jean Giesen, and special friend Leo Bradley. She was a very special aunt to Stephen (Melanie) Willenborg, Laura (Paul) Herrell, Jeff (Erica) Giesen and Amy (Jeff) Butt, and a great aunt to nine. She was predeceased in death by her parents. Janet will be deeply missed by her family and friends who survive her.

Special thanks to Carol Ottman for her friendship and loving care of Janet during her yearlong illness.

A private family gathering to celebrate her life will be held. T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home is serving the family. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will conclude in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

In lieu of flowers, please request a Mass be offered in memory of Janet at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 777 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45255.
