Janice Steffen Marx, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members, on December 11, 2024 at the age of 92.
The daughter of the late Albert Steffen and Florence (Leahy) was born on February 21, 1932, in Cold Spring, KY. Janice lived in Bethel and Anderson, Ohio and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Anderson Township before moving in her recent years to Independence, KY.
After growing up in a large family of cherished parents and siblings, Janice became the devoted and loving wife of the late Thomas Baron Marx, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond for 48 years. Together, they created a beautiful family that was the cornerstone of her life.
She was the beloved mother of Mitchell (Kathy) Marx, Rick (Betty Ann) Marx, Nancy (Danny) Pack, and Tom Marx Jr.. Her unwavering love for her children was matched only by the pride she felt for her grandchildren: Jeremy Marx, Mitchell (Stephanie) Marx, Jana Marx Ford, Doug (Brandy) Hathorn, Robbie (Heather) Marx, Justin (Lauren) Pack, and Janaye (Nathan) Ponzer.
Janice's legacy extends further, as she was blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren: Austin and Gavin Marx, Callie Ford, Libby and Emmitt Pack, Breckett, Tate and Riggs Ponzer, Jack (Savannah), Sadie, Brianna, Emma, and Jenna Hathorn, Allie Fink, Reece and Callan Marx and two great-great-grandchildren, Jaxxon and Rowan Hathorn. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them sharing laughter, love and family connections.
Janice is known for her strong faith, and her devotion and connection to Mother Mary. This connection shining through is her testament to the power of love and the importance of family. A spirited and fun-loving person, she will be remembered for her strength, compassion, beautiful smile, and the myriad memories she created with her loved ones at countless birthday parties, Sunday afternoons at "the farm", and family holiday celebrations.
Janice Steffen Marx will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
A service celebrating Janice's life will be held on Thursday, December 19th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Anderson Ohio with visitation 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow the visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Union Township. Reception to continue the celebration of Janice's life will be held following at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Anderson, Ohio.
