Jean Pallant Clemmons was born February 1, 1931 in Cincinnati, OH. She lived in Hyde Park on Portsmouth Avenue. She attended Kilgour Elementary. She moved to New Albany, IN in 1942 where she graduated from New Albany High School. Jean attended Hanover College majoring in math and physics; she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. Most importantly, this is where Jean met James Clemmons. She graduated from Hanover June 9, 1952. Jim and Jean married June 21, 1952. They lived in Bright and Harrison, IN before moving to Cincinnati in 1965. Daughters Jan and Jill were born while living in Indiana.
Jean was active in golf leagues, quilt groups, Anderson Womens Club and her Martha Circle at MWPC. She and Jim traveled extensively throughout the United States. They had a curiosity to see the country. She kept meticulous scrapbooks of all their travels and the people they met. After Jims passing in 2001, Jean continued to travel. She was a very proud grandmother to Alison (Hayden) Riley, Emily (Josh) Jacobs, Lindsey (Noah) Stelzer, Jamie (Tori) Roth, Hannah (Eleu) Wilson, and Emma (Roger) Coffin. Extremely proud great grandmother to Sydney and Brandon Riley; Nora and Claire Jacobs; Ruby and Frances Stelzer; Jena, Joey, Jacy and Jayme Roth; Salanoa and Makai Wilson. She kept every thank you note, card and drawing she received from them. In later years, Jean enjoyed her quiet time, reading, quilting, knitting, New York Times crosswords, sudoku and logic problems, word chums and classical music.
She will be sorely missed but we are filled with gratitude for the time we had with her.
