Zielasko Meacham, Joan M. (nee Hanna),died peacefully on August 5, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care Center after a long illness followed by a stroke. Joan was born on April 6,1932 in Staten Island, NY to James William and Jesse Lavelle Hanna. Joan grew up in Staten Island and graduated from Flower Fifth Avenue School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. After moving to Kentucky, sometime early in the '50's, Joan served as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years in a variety of clinical settings at Booth Memorial Hospital (Covington), St. Elizabeth Hospital (Covington), Jewish Hospital (Cincinnati), The University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and in Bethesda Hospital (Cincinnati). Caring for others as a nurse, serving in the healthcare industry as a healer -- defined her life. Throughout her life, Joan maintained a passion for nursing and healthcare. Joan was a life-long learner and avid reader. After moving to Kentucky, she continued her healthcare education at Thomas More College. Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Lloyd Meacham. Joan is survived by their five children: Jim Meacham (Donna), Janet M. Cottrell (Ken), David L. Meacham, Scott D. Meacham (Angel) and Christopher L. Meacham and grandchildren that she adored: Sarah, Patrick, Eliot, Evan, Hannah, Matthew, Shannon, Joseph, and great-grandson, Maddox. Joan was proud of her family and leaves a legacy of her love of learning, a strong and faithful work ethic, a contagious appreciation for humor and a commitment to believing that all people are created equal in the eyes of God. As a young woman, Joan identified as a Christian and leaned on her faith regularly. While working, raising her family and in good health, she lived for a few years in Florence, KY and attended Hopeful Lutheran Church. Later, she and her family moved to Erlanger, KY, where she was a member and active at Erlanger Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Married a second time, later in life and preceded in death by husband, Robert Zielasko, she lived a number of years in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since 2012, Joan was a resident at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, KY. Her Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at Erlanger Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on, August 6, 2016. Visitation will be held at the Church from 3-4 pm. The funeral service with the Rev. Charles Martin officiating will begin at 4 pm. Visitation will begin at 3 pm at Erlanger Christian Church. Burial will be on Monday, August 8 at 11 am in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati, OH.
