John S. Abrinica (86)
We're saddened to announce that John Abrinica of Mason, OH, and formerly of Anderson Township passed away on February 20, 2024, at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of Noemi Abrinica (80), whom he was married to for 57 years, and proud father of Mark Abrinica (54), wife Claudia, Marvin Abrinica (47), wife Holli, and Michael Abrinica (45). John was the loving Lolo (grandfather) of Isabel (20) and Alexandria (17), and Tito (uncle) to many others in the Cincinnati Filipino community.
John was preceded in death by his parents and closest siblings including Loretto, Eding, and Brokoy.
John was the second youngest of thirteen children raised on a farm on the remote island of Negros Occidental, Philippines.The land gave him a deep work ethic, but his sense of adventure brought him to Manila where he studied mechanical engineering at FEATI University. Thats where John fell in love with a young school teacher, and they decided to immigrate to the United States in 1969 to raise their family. After settling in Cincinnati, John spent a long career at General Electric Aircraft Engines, before he retired to tend to his garden and spend time with his family telling stories about growing up on the farm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Anderson Twp. on Saturday, February 24th at 10:30 am where family and friends may visit from 9:30 am until time of Mass. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati. https://hospiceofcincinnati.org/
