John L. Fanning of Cincinnati passed away February 16, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 21, 1950 in Cincinnati the son of the late Walter and Mary (nee Higgins) Fanning.
Loving husband of Debbie (nee Busch) of 53 years. Loving father of Irish Twin daughters, Carole (Kyle) Torres and Christy (Nate) Kosman. Cherished grandfather of Max and Brooke Kosman and Blake and Katelyn Torres. Dear brother of the late Mary T. Fanning.
He was raised in Oakley and graduated from Purcell High School in 1968. He went on to Penn State and graduated with a degree in Turfgrass Management.
An avid golfer, his love of the game led him to a lifelong career and many friendships in the industry. He cherished the times spent with family and friends, especially on his annual family vacations. John was known for his great storytelling, spending time in his yard, and love for his Irish heritage.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 21, 11 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Oakley where visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of mass. Family requests all join them for a celebration of life at Dead Low Brewery (5959 Kellogg Ave.) from 1-4 PM following mass.
