John "Jack" Bishop

John (Jack) Bishop died in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 90.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marilyn and children Peggy (Bill Cotter) Bishop of Lexington, KY, Gregory (Julie) Bishop of Cincinnati, OH; Stephen (Cher Paganelli) Bishop of Cleveland, OH; Kathryn (John) Young of Amelia, OH plus grandchildren Nicole Bishop and Justin (Krista) Bishop of the Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Jack was born in Lockport, New York to Ralph and Doris Bishop. He graduated from Niagara University and received a Master’s degree in chemistry from Purdue University. He was a research chemist and developed products in microencapsulation for NCR in Dayton, Ohio and other pharmaceutical companies.

His family remembers him as a conscientious person in home life as well as his professional life. His love of astronomy led him to build his own telescope and spend hours taking night sky photographs. Throughout his life he had beautifully laid out vegetable gardens and also shared his gardening knowledge through the OLLI adult learning program. He sailed small sailboats on Ohio lakes and on Long Island Sound where he vacationed yearly. He was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Church in East Walnut Hills where he served as an eloquent lector.

He loved his children and encouraged their education in the fields that they chose.

Visitation will 5-7 p.m. on Monday, August 19 at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45230. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church at 1600 Madison Road in Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. Interment will follow at the Pierce Township Cemetery on Locust Grove Road in Pierce Township in Clermont County.
