John "Jack" Purcell

November 17, 1941 — January 10, 2020

Jack was born to Harry and Claribel Purcell of Newport, Kentucky.

He attended St. Francis de Sales grade school in Newport, Kentucky, Newport Catholic High School and went on to work at Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company as well as the IRS for many years.

Jack was wed to the late Wanda Gould Purcell and together they welcomed six beautiful children: Ann (Tom) Sparks, Susanne (Phillip) Dusing, Dianne (Lee) Payne, Teresa (Garlin) Abrams, William (Jacquie) Purcell, John (Christy) Purcell and loving grandfather to 18 (including one angel) and great grandfather to 11.
Jack was the loving husband to Virginia Witte Purcell. Tom (Gina) Sikes and Denise (Michael) Watson were blessed to know him as a kind and caring stepfather. Jack was also a loving step-grandfather to 1.
Jack is joining his siblings: Harry Purcell, Marilyn Schoo, Nick Purcell, and Judy Grant in eternal bliss.

His musical family instilled the love of music in him. He also loved to learn about the inner workings of computers and built electronic devices that have lasted many years.
Jack knew Bill W. and by the grace of God has celebrated his second birthday for 33 years.
Alzheimer's disease gradually stole his memory and his quality of life. When this disease became too much to bear, God mercifully welcomed him home.

The world is a less joyous place without Jack's sweet soul.

A celebration of Jack's life will take place on Saturday, February 8, at 10 am, at St. Thomas Church, 500 S. Ft. Thomas Avenue, Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. This celebration will continue with a reception in the adjacent Activity Center.

Donations in Jack's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio or to the Cincinnati SPCA , 3949 Colerain Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio.
