John Roos died on April 6, 2023. Born in Cincinnati to parents Fred and Ida Roos. With the exception of college and the military John lived his entire life in Cincinnati. Beloved husband of Meredith and proud father of Kathleen, he was predeceased by his son, Erich Roos, in 2013 and his dear sister Evelyn Fusaro in 2020. . Of course, he leaves many relatives and a host of longtime friends.
John loved his God, his country, and his family. He was a kind, generous and humble man. And he always, always put others ahead of himself.
Very few persons know that John was the president of his class at Anderson High School all four years and that he was the Valedictorian of his class. Or that he graduated from Princeton University cum laude. Or that he had a Master's degree from Xavier University. Or that he was a pilot in the United States Marine Corps, or that he retired as a full Colonel. He just didn't talk about himself. And now he has "flown West" to join the other pilots before him.
John's professional career was spent in Management at the then Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company for 37 years, then for the State of Ohio for the last 6 years of his working life.
John's favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, working in his yard and garden, and tending to his honeybees as an amateur beekeeper for over 50 years. He was the only person we ever knew who was stung hundreds of times and didn't even care.
There will be a Memorial Service for John at the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church on June 10, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, Hospice of Cincinnati, or to an organization that is special to your heart and raise a toast to a life well lived.
