Joseph Spaulding

Spaulding, Joseph McGill, the third child of Abbot D. Spaulding and Marguerite McGill Spaulding was born November 8, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He was reared in Chicago, Springfield and Homewood, Illinois. He attended Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and the University of Notre Dame. Following a short career in the U.S. Navy he was employed by various firms on the west coast. Finally founding his own business in truck driver accessories. He covered mainly the western states while maintaining his home and warehouse in Los Angeles. He spent his free time travelling about the world, attending rodeos, and buying western art which he hoped would appreciate for retirement. His many decades of business with partner Ray Mendoza went \"south\" in 2007. That fall he took up residence in Covington, Kentucky and lived there as he desired until beginning to fail. He moved to the Residence at Salem Woods in Mt. Washington in 2013. He experienced profound exhaustion at lunch on May 12 and was taken by life squad to Mercy Anderson Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8 p.m. following a massive heart attack. He survived by a sister, Rita Quinn of Springfield, Virginia and four nieces, Catherine of Alexandria, Virginia, Patricia of Chatham, New Jersey, Marguerite of Chicago, Illinois, and Irene of Springfield, Virginia. His brother, Abbot, resides in Cincinnati, as do his nephews, Edward of Wilder, Kentucky, Frederick of Green Township, Abbot II of Anderson Township, and niece Teresa of Mt. Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John Fisher Church on Wednesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will be at St. Stephens Cemetery in Campbell County Kentucky following the mass. In lieu flowers, contributions may be directed to the St. John Fisher Church Building Fund, 3227 Church St, Newtown, OH. 45244. T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home serving the family.
