Spencer, Joyce H. (nee Hoskins), age 83 years, of Venice, Florida and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away following emergency surgery from an underlying progressive illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon G. Hoskins and Iva H. Candy, her brother, Charles V. Hoskins, and daughter, Kimberly A. Spencer. Joyce is survived by her sister, Geraldine Hoskins of Venice, Florida; her sons: Jeffrey (Karen) Spencer of Loveland, Ohio, Gregory (Becky) Spencer of Manassis, Virginia and Timothy Spencer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughters: Sara and Samantha Spencer of Manassis, Virginia, Katelyn and Jennifer Spencer of Loveland, Ohio and Rachel (Josh) Fuston of Cincinnati, Ohio; great granddaughter, Isabella and great grandson, Noah Fuston. She also leaves many wonderful friends, and her beloved Shih-Tzu, Bridget Hoskins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Joyce was born in Lexington, Kentucky and grew up in Maysville and Fairview, Kentucky. She graduated high school in Flemingsburg, Kentucky and earned an Associate Degree at University of Kentucky. Her professional career started at P&G as an Executive Assistant. Joyce married and moved to Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia, raising four children. She returned to Cincinnati and continued working with the Barnes, Dennig Accounting firm. Later she lived with her sister, Geraldine, to help care for their mother. The three moved to Naples, Florida where she began her own business. After five years, she moved back to Cincinnati, where her business flourished, working from home with her beloved dogs always at her side. She and her sister, Geraldine one again moved back to Florida to live out her remaining years in a warm climate, which ultimately became only six months until her death. She was a perfectionist with her work and passionate about following college basketball. She enjoyed reading, baking, and showing the fruits of her labor at Christmas time and social activities with close friends. In Venice, she was beginning to enjoy the lifestyle of the retired visiting art shows, sitting on the beach, and watching sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico, until her illness became confining. Cremation services are being provided by the Farley Funeral Home. Venice Chapel. Interment will be in Seaman, Ohio with her parents in a private service. A Celebration of her Life and Memorial Service will be held at the T.P. White Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mount Washington on Sat. April 22, at 2 PM with a gathering following the service.
