Kathleen A. Sweeney

Kathleen Ann Sweeney 89 of Cincinnati, Ohio died peacefully at her home on January 10, 2025.

She was born and raised in Cincinnati in 1935 to Edward J. Kenney and Mildred Nieman Kenney.

Kathleen graduated from the College of Mount Saint Joseph.

Kathleen married Paul D. Sweeney MD, in 1958. Together they raised four children and were married for 54 years.

Kathleen had a passion and talent for cooking and baking. She studied Baking and Pastry Arts at the Culinary Institute of New York and in Paris, France. While studying she had the privilege of learning under the tutelage of Julia Child.

Kathleen went on to start and run Let Them Eat Cake! Cake and pastry business. She delivered beautiful, delicious, and unique cakes and desserts for weddings and gatherings.

Kathleen also taught culinary arts at the Lazarus Creative Kitchen.

Kathleen is preceded in death by Husband, Paul D. Sweeney, Father, Edward J. Kenney, Mother, Mildred Nieman Kenney, and Brother, Daniel S. Kenney.

Kathleen is survived in death by her sister Nan Hadden and brother-in-law, Christopher Hadden, Portland, Maine, children and spouses, Michael D. Sweeney, Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas C. Sweeney, Lisa Gurnick Sweeney, Cincinnati, Ohio, Timothy J. Sweeney, Shelly Cropper Sweeney, Portland, Oregon, Kathryn A. Sweeney-Magenheim, Robert Magenheim, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held in honor of Kathleen at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2845 Erie Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45208 on Thursday, January 16 at 11AM. Visitation from 10-11AM.

Kathleen will be interned at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Blue Ash, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer's Foundation of Cincinnati and Hospice of Cincinnati, would be greatly appreciated.
