Kathy Gehring Stickel, born July 21, 1942 and died February 18, 2024. Excellence came naturally to Kathy; patience, understanding, and wisdomshe cultivated over a lifetime of teaching and learning. She was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, graduating from Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati. First as the Director of the Mt. Washington Preschool, later as a mentor teacher in the Forest Hills School District, Kathys relentless advocacy for students inspired district and regional innovation in education throughout her career. She was an avid reader, thinker, and citizen, believing in integrity, intellect, and fairness. Kathy had an unerring eye for beauty and design, creating artful gardens and primitive wool hooked fiber art. She was a person of great character and lasting impact who will be treasured always and missed by: Kathy's life partner and husband, Michael Buchanan, beloved daughter Tara L. Stickel Binder (Bernard), cherished granddaughters Riley and Regan Binder, sisters Barbara Merk, Kristine Beiting (Mark), Joanne McElroy (Robert), as well as Chris and Diane Binder, and her many nieces.
