Kevin T. O'Connell

May 1, 1956 — March 28, 2025

Kevin Thomas O'Connell, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 28, 2025. He was a devoted husband of 42 years to Lauri O'Connell (nee Kellar), loving father to Amanda (Mike) Doenges, Lindsey (Michael) Fassler and Ryan (Lauren) O'Connell, and cherished Papa to Oliver, Lucy, Rowan, Remi, Jay and Ana.

Born in Cincinnati on May 1, 1956, to parents Thomas and Evelyn (nee Chauncy) O'Connell, Kevin is survived by his siblings Cathy (Mike) Bennett, Rick (Linda) O'Connell and Gary (Diane) O'Connell, along with his Kellar in-laws and many loving nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his brother David.

Kevin lived his entire life in Cincinnati, the city he loved, where he graduated from St. Xavier High School and the University of Cincinnati. Kevin touched many lives in his 68 years, and will be missed by a multitude of friends, many dating back to his grade school, high school and college days. He was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering for the Bearcats, Bengals and Reds, and notably attending Opening Day consecutively for 25-plus years. Kevin loved spending time teeing off on the golf course, and he especially treasured his time spent boating on Lake Cumberland with family and lifelong friends.

Most of all, Kevin enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Lauri, and their children and grandchildren. He delighted in planning yearly Christmas vacation surprises, attending the grandchildren's parties and sporting events, and escaping to the warmth and sunshine of Florida.

Kevin's friendly nature and drive for professional excellence led to success in the mortgage banking industry, where he worked as a Vice President of Union Savings Bank for 20 years. A recipient of the Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Bankers Lifetime Achievement Award among others, Kevin produced over 1,900 loans in the last 10 years for nearly $600 million dollars, putting him among the all-time top producers at Union Savings Bank. He will be missed by both colleagues and clients.

Kevin was the GOAT, loved by everyone who knew him. He was a man of few words yet had the ability to command a crowd as the life of the party. Our time with Kevin was cut short but we are left with a lifetime of precious memories. Sláinte to a life well lived!

A memorial service for Kevin will be held on Wednesday, April 16th, at Anderson Hills Church, 7515 Forest Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45255. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 am followed by the service at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org), Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) or Hospice of Cincinnati (hospiceofcincinnati.org/donate/).
