Leonard "Len" A. Geshan, Ync, Usn (Ret.)

LEONARD A. GESHAN, CHIEF YEOMAN, USN (Retired) & 32nd Degree Mason.

Leonard A. Geshan, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and Masonic brother died on Thursday, August 20, 2020, in Cincinnati, OH with his loving family by his side. Len was born on November 20, 1936 in Shenandoah, PA, son of the late John Geshan and Anna Fizel Geshan.

Len grew up in the anthracite coal mining town of Mahanoy City, PA. He graduated high school and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954. He received his basic training at Bainbridge, MD; serving twenty years in the Navy, retiring in 1974; with tours of duty in Newport, RI (USS Noxubee AOG-56); Philadelphia, PA (Naval Supply Depot); Camp David, MD (Naval Mission), Malta G.C. (NATO Allied Forces), Cleveland, OH (Recruiting), Rota, Spain (VQ-2) and Cincinnati, OH (Recruiting).

Len was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal with Silver Star, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp), the National Defense Service Medal, as well as, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Badge, Allied Forces Mediterranean Badge and the Navy Recruiting Command Badge with Gold Wreath.

While stationed in Philadelphia, PA, he married the love of his life, Catherine Mary (Geib) Geshan, who predeceased him last week. He is survived by his loving children, daughter, Jean Ann (Geshan) Gaines and her husband Scott Gaines of Cincinnati, OH; sons, CAPT Leonard A. Geshan, Jr. and his wife LCDR Susan C. (Castor) Geshan of Oakton, VA and Andrew John Geshan and his wife, Carmen (Ingalls) Geshan, of Oxford, OH; as well as seven grandchildren, Matthew, Natalie and Shelby Gaines of Cincinnati, OH, Connor and Megan Geshan of Oakton, VA, and Patrick and Parker Geshan of Oxford, OH.

Len was a 32nd Degree Mason, as well as, the Past Master of the Mount Washington # 642 and Yeatman # 162 F.&A.M. Lodges. Len was awarded his 50-year pin last July; he was an ardent Mason and supporter of the Shriners Hospitals for Children. An active member of the All Saints Lutheran Church.

Len was especially fond of travelling, playing golf and participating in the lives of his grandchildren.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 at T .P. WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mt. Washington from 5-7 PM, with Yeatman Lodge #162 F & AM and Scottish Rite Ring Services at 7:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 at All Saints Lutheran Church 445 Craig Rd. Mt. Carmel. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour. Interment will follow in Pierce Township Cemetery with full military honors.
