Linda Schmidt

May 29, 1958 — April 29, 2019

Linda Susan Schmidt, age 60 of Union Township passed away suddenly on April 29th, 2019

She was the beloved daughter of the late Patricia (Hamilton) Schmidt and the late Richard Schmidt and step-daughter of Connie Schmidt. She is survived by her siblings Debbie (Schmidt) Donovan (Kevin), Sally (Schmidt) Muenchen (Michael) and Mark Schmidt (Christy) and nieces and nephew Eileen Donovan, Erin Donovan, Kelly (Muenchen) Hii, Eric Muenchen, Claire Muenchen and Anna Schmidt. In addition, she leaves behind her loving aunt, Carol (Hamilton) Miller and host of cousins.

As a 1979 graduate of the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing, Linda went on to earn her BSN from the University of Cincinnati. Early in her career she traveled to Saudi Arabia to care for patients in an emerging health care system. Upon returning to the U.S., she spent the next thirty-eight years providing direct patient care with a focus on cardiac intensive care at The Jewish Hospital, Mercy Hospital and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She also served as a FEMA volunteer to assist in several disaster relief missions including deployment to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Linda was a very intelligent, caring person with a gentle soul and a whimsical spirit. She had a special place in her heart for rescue animals and had adopted several rescue dogs in her lifetime. She loved to travel, shop, and meet people from all over the world and had traveled to Africa and Europe. Her favorite local vacation destination was Destin, Florida.

Its hard to put into words the impact Linda had on others. She was a devoted daughter, a protective and loving big sister, a generous aunt and a loyal friend. Linda was also a dedicated caregiver who was always ready to put the needs of others before her own. As a tissue donor, her generous spirit will continue to serve others. We are devastated by her loss and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt. Washington, on Saturday, May 4th, from 2 to 4 pm. A private family interment will be held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The SPCA of Cincinnati or the League for Animal Welfare.
