Margaret Mary"Peggy" (neeConnelly) Zins, was born on October 10, 1935 in Columbus, OH to Margaret and Kenneth Connelly. She died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on December 27, 2022 at the age of 87 at The Seasons in Alexandria, KY. She was married to Thomas Andrew Zins, the love of her life, for 21 years, from Sept. 6, 1958 until he died in 1980. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother to six children, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a Registered Nurse, and a faithful member of Guardian Angels Church. Peggy grew up in the Hyde Park area of Cincinnati; she attended St. Mary Grade School and then St. Mary High School, before attending Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Peggy worked as a Registered Nurse in Public Health until she became a mother. During the 70s she updated her nursing license and resumed her nursing career at Mercy Hospitals in Mariemont and Anderson, working on the Med-Surg floor for decades. After she retired in 1998, she volunteered at Hospice of Cincinnati in Anderson for several years, which was challenging but very gratifying to her. Although a young widow with six children between the ages of 10 and 20, Peggy was very proud that all six of her children graduated from Catholic high schools (St. Ursula, McNicholas, St. Xavier) and then colleges and universities (Miami, Dayton, Cincinnati, Chicago, Xavier, NKU). Peggy loved her children and she loved traveling, so she frequently visited her children and took trips with them - across Ohio (including school field trips and various principals offices), Indiana, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Maryland, North Carolina, Idaho, California, Illinois, Florida, Washington state and Washington DC, many of Americas National Parks, Ireland, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, the Caribbean, and Punta Cana. Peggy loved people; she made true, beloved, and lasting friends everywhere she went. She made some of her best friends in high school and then maintained those friendships for over 75 years. An expert conversationalist, Peggy was known for keeping social events and family gatherings lively and filled with laughter - including the family Christmas party just last week! Most importantly, she was a beloved child of God. Peggy was an incredible mother to her six children, and she is survived by all of them: Kathy (Ed) Hildreth, Margie (Steve) Kling, Tom (Ruthann) Zins, Mike (Denise) Zins, Beth Zins, and John (Lilly) Zins, as well as 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her brother Ken Connelly of Louisville, KY. She is preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents Margaret and Kenneth Connelly, and her brother Robert.
