Margery Evelyn Nauer (née Dixon) of Anderson Township, OH died on September 24, 2018 at Mount Washington Care Center in Cincinnati, OH. She was 95 years old. Born on April 3, 1923 in Cheyenne, WY, she was the daughter of the late Col. Oness Harry Dixon, Jr. and Angela Andrews Dixon. As part of a military family, her growing up years were spent in many locations, including Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, Fort Benning in Georgia and the Presidio of San Francisco. The family also spent time in Illinois and at one of her favorite places, Liberty Island in New York, where she enthused over her view of the Statue of Liberty. Following the end of World War II, Margie joined her family when they moved to Tokyo, Japan during the first years of the occupation by the United States. Margie was proud of being an "Army Brat" and enjoyed seeing so much of the world that her father's various assignments made possible. After graduating from Rockford High School in Rockford, Illinois, she attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she graduated in 1944, having earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with majors in Psychology and English. Margie was a gifted soprano, who was an important member of the choir at her church and who sang with the Forest-Aires' Women's Chorus locally. She also enjoyed including music in the curriculum of the kindergarten classes that she taught for 30 years in the Milford, Ohio school district. She loved her cats, too. Margie is survived by her nephew, William R. Unwin of New York City, and niece, Nancy C. Shirley of Topton, NC, and three grandchildren, Adam Carthon, Antonia Huber and Alison Carthon. Her son, Michael D. Nauer, daughter, Amy Carthon, and sister, Muriel Dixon Unwin, preceded her in death.
