Marilyn B. Brown (nee Brand), age 97, died peacefully at home on January 4, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Magdalene Brand, devoted wife of Robert P. Brown, and loving mother to daughters Susan Terry and Karen Marie (Dave) Cress and son Thomas (Melanie). Her legacy includes 8 grandchildren (Aaron, Adam, Caitlin, Gretchen, Cameron, Nathaniel, Eden, Nicolaus), 3 step-grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Marilyn was born and raised in Columbus, OH and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 with a degree in the new field of occupational therapy following World War II. She began her professional career at the VA hospital in Chillicothe before moving to Cincinnati where she met her husband Bob, who passed away in 1972. After raising her family and following the death of her husband, Marilyn worked as an occupational therapist at Children’s Hospital and later in the Sycamore School District helping children with disabilities. After retirement, she volunteered at the Cincinnati Nature Center taking school groups on nature walks. Marilyn expressed her passion for God’s creation in artwork, crafts, and as a long-time member of her local Garden Club. Friends and family remember her for her great Christian faith, gentle disposition, sense of humor and adventure, and her love of family.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 11, at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service. Memorial gifts may be made to Life Forward or the Congregational Care Fund of Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church.
