Marion A. "Becky" Hood of Webster, NY, formerly of Corning, NY, passed away at age 95. Survived by her cherished husband of 67 years, Harrison P. Hood III, and three beloved children: Lindsay (Bennett) Keeling, Harrison P. Hood IV and Alison (Jonathan) Lampert as well as 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A gifted singer and musician, Becky earned BM and MM degrees in vocal performance from Syracuse University. While an undergraduate, she was accepted into Sigma Alpha Iota Honorary Music Fraternity and Chi Omega Sorority. Following college graduation, Becky accepted a position as head of the Music Department at Stuart Hall School in Staunton, VA, where she taught voice, directed choral groups and musicals, and gave voice recitals. This preceded her much anticipated marriage to Hal, her high school sweetheart, and their move to Rochester. Together they joined Third Presbyterian Church on East Avenue where Becky soon became a valued soprano in the Chancel Choir, where she sang for 30 years.
Becky also served as past president of the Rochester Newcomers Club, on the Board of Directors of the Rochester Oratorio Society, was a longtime member of the Bach Festival Chorus and RMSC Womens Council and a volunteer at Genesee Hospital. At Third Church, she served on several service committees that included the Dining Room Ministry, Worship Commission and Laotian refugee resettlement. A true lover of natures wonders, Becky also enjoyed reading, especially history and current events, decorating, entertaining friends, traveling, visiting family and frequently hosting all three families for the Christmas holidays. Becky was devoted to her children and grandchildren and always eager to encourage their interests and accomplishments. Most important, with her husband Hal, she shared in a deeply loving and treasured relationship throughout their long marriage.
Becky and Hal moved to Cincinnati, OH, in 2021 to be close to their daughter Lindsay and her family. Becky bequeathed her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicines Body Donation Program, and her remains will be interred in the Third Presbyterian Church Columbarium. The family is planning a celebration of Beckys life in a private gathering at a later date.
