Mary Koebbe

Koebbe, Mary Esther (nee Johnson), Age 77 years of Anderson Twp., died June 9, 2015. Born July 11, 1937 to Truman David and Elise Johnson in Omega Ga. Graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, TN, attended Freed Hardeman Christian College, University of Tennessee and College Conservatory of Music. Mary made her home in Cincinnati and enjoyed a 20 year career in music. Some notable memories were singing at Music Hall with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Thor Johnson. She sang under the professional name of Mary O'Brien at many of the local restaurants and night clubs in the 1960's and 1970's. For many years she was a regular participant in the "Music in the Park" summer program singing Broadway show tunes with "Smitty's Orchestra". She also appeared on the Paul Dixon Show as well as the Ruth Lyons show. For a three year period in the early 1960's Mary sang our National Anthem for the Cincinnati Reds at Crosley Field including the 1961 WorId Series. She was a well known entertainer among most of the local night Clubs and television. What she enjoyed the most was getting to know so many people and making many of them friends. While touching coattails with some famous "show biz" and some political people over the years, her most precious years were spent raising her children, doting on her grandchildren and enjoying her great-grandchildren. Mary has been married to her beloved husband Richard Koebbe for 34 blissful years. Soon after their marriage she joined her husband in his manufacturing business Eger Products, Inc. They worked side by side until her health no longer permitted. She leaves her children Jodi Burton of Williston FL., Sherry Sandusky (Greg Smith) of Amelia, OH., Brian Reed (Bobbie) of Batavia, OH., Elisa Hugenberg (Joseph Gift) of Batavia, OH., David Koebbe (Audrey) of Amelia, OH., Jane Sunderhaus (Cary) of Anderson Township, and the late Cheryl McNeill of St. Paul, NC. Mrs. Koebbe also enjoyed her life with sixteen grandchildren, Josh Durden, Ashley Gilkison (Clint Gilkison), Brandon Sandusky (Arienne), Cody Smith, Brian Reed II, Krista Reed, Mollie Reed, Mallorie Campbell, Maggie Campbell, Deidra Koebbe, Kristi Koebbe, Richie Koebbe, Reva McNeill, Marshall Pickel, Jill Gibson, Lindsey Sunderhaus and her great-grandchildren Ava and Brynli Durden and Bella and Cali Sandusky, Zoey Gibson, Cohen and Reed Gilkison, and Colson Wilson. Funeral services will be held at Anderson Hills United Methodist Church 7515 Forest Rd, Anderson Twp., on Saturday, June 13 at 12: 30 pm. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
