Mary Louise Lanter

November 27, 1935 — February 27, 2025

Mary Louise (Ruhoff) Lanter, age 89, of Mt. Washington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at The Residence of Salem Woods.

Mary Lou was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by herdaughters, Lisa Torbeck (Steve) and Kelli Radloff (Jeff); her son, Kevin Lanter (Tina); her grandchildren, Ashley Shoemaker, Jessica Hare, Rebekah Radloff, Luke Radloff, Joshua Radloff, Elijah Radloff, Elizabeth Radloff, Abbey Lanter, William Lanter, and Sophie Lanter; and her great-grandson, William Hare.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lee Ann Lanter.

Mary Lou leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service. A 1954 graduate of McNicholas High School, she held a special place in the school's history as the queen of its inaugural Mardi Gras celebration in 1953.

Mary Lou retired as the Head Cashier of the International Restaurant at Kings Island after more than 15 years of service. Her commitment to children was evident in her roles as a lifeguard with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, the Latch Key Program Director at Maddux Elementary (through M.E. Lyons YMCA), an Extended Kindergarten Aide at Mercer Elementary School, and her time working with Mt. Washington Baptist Day Care. She also lovingly served as a nanny for Kaitlin.

Her involvement extended beyond her professional life. Mary Lou volunteered at Jane Miles School of Dance and shared her love for dance through teaching ballroom dancing for Arthur Murray. She was also an active member of the Beechmont Squares square dancing group, serving as their Treasurer for many years.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, both at Guardian Angels Church, 6531 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45230. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1721 Duck Creek Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45207.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McNicholas High School, 6536 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45230, in Mary Lou's honor. (Link to donate to McNicholas High School: https://www.mcnhs.org/support-mcnick )
