Michael Wayne Adams, age 85 of Anderson Twp. and formerly of Evansville, Indiana, passed away, December 11, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Donna Rae Adams (nee Chambliss), devoted father of Julie Adams Chafin, Jeff (Terri) Adams, and Jennifer (Erick) Grimm, loving grandfather of Carly Chafin, Dylan Chafin, and Carson Grimm, and dear uncle of Marcy and Kevin Braun & Anthony and Corey Nardella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hettie Pearl Adams and Joseph William Adams, his sister Judy (Urban Michael) Braun, his nephews, Corey Braun and Raphael Nardella, and his in-laws, Eugene and Londa Carter, and his sister-in-law, Andrea Carter Nardella.
He was a star baseball player at Evansvilles Central High School and tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals. Mike was in the Indiana National Guard and had been to Officers training at Ft. Benning, Georgia before his career with AT&T. Mike met Donna one night while out with mutual friends. They discovered that they worked in the same building with Indiana Bell Telephone Co. Donna was an operator and Mike was a lineman for the county with AT&T. They grew up on the same street and went to the same schools, but never knew each other. They were married in 1962 in Evansville, Indiana. Julie was born in Evansville, Indiana even though Mike & Donna had moved to Cleveland, Ohio with a first of many promotions. Jeff was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and then Jennifer in Chicago, Illinois. The big and final move took them from West Bloomfield, Michigan to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1980.
Mike retired from AT&T with 38 years of service. His career had many promotions that would mean moving his family to a different state and home every time. He received his Masters Degree from Xavier University thru AT&Ts executive program and was a district manager in Cincinnati at the time of his retirement. He got his real estate license and worked for Sibcy Cline for several years in their Anderson office. For fun, he decided to go to work for the IRS doing business taxes with his good friend Chuck Stafford. He ended up retiring after 22 years of service.
He loved attending his grandchildren Carly, Dylan & Carsons baseball, basketball & soccer games. Mike enjoyed camping and there are several trips with friends and family that provide great memories. He also enjoyed all the family trips to Holden Beach, NC where his daughter in law, Terris parents lived. .
Special thank you to Hospice of Cincinnati Anderson location & the Christ Hospital ICU medical team for their care. At his request, a private family service will be held.
