Michael J. Magness, age 62 of Cincinnati, passed away July 28, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Julia, devoted father of Robert (Rachel) Magness and Sarah (Eric) Murphy, and caring Papa to Ellie; the son of the late Charles and Mary Jean, loving brother of Charles, William (Sandra), Linda, Suzanne (Tracey Enlow), and the late Karen; uncle to many nieces and nephews and dog daddy to Charley.
When diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 2021, Mike did not allow his life to slow down. He fought for 20 months, continuing to be the life of the party at each and every event he attended. To everyone grieving, know he put his family and friendships above all else. If you ever hear a woodpecker, he is right there with you.
Mike was a lifetime member of the Woodpeckers and The Willows River Camp. He was an avid Cincinnati sports fan, no matter the season or sport. Mike was a great man who loved life and appreciated every place and every moment. He especially loved being on a beach, building dolphin sand sculptures, while drinking a margarita. He also enjoyed a great dive in Mexico to find sharks and other marine life. He was known by many titles, but his favorite was Papa. Papa cherished being Ellies first official babysitter, enjoying countless walks with her around the neighborhood.
Woodpecker stands for determination, energy, creativity, wisdom and passion. As a spirit animal, intelligent with a sense of responsibility and a zeal to know more. In dreams, generally warns you to be attentive in life and not take things for granted.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Guardian Angels Church, Mt. Washingto, on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Immediately following the mass, a celebration of life will be held at The Willows River Camp.
