Michael Sears

Michael Sears, age 76, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on November 30th, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on January 5th at Eastern Hills Friends Meeting, 1671 Nagel Rd, Cincinnati OH. Mike was born in Columbia, Missouri, to Ernest and Caroline Sears on Sept. 17th, 1942. He married Linda Adams on May 25, 1966 in Columbia, Mo. He earned a master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Missouri. He was the Director of the workshop at Clovernook Home and School for the Blind for 23 years, then he reinvented himself as a data base software designer. He enjoyed massive remodeling on their Wyoming home, and loved working around their country home in Clarksville. A day spent chopping down trees and splitting firewood was a good day. He and Linda loved teaching whitewater canoeing with the Miami Group of the Sierra Club and ran many camping/canoeing trips. They especially loved the three rafting trips they took down the Grand Canyon with family. They were able to travel to all 50 states and took several trips abroad. Mike was a blacksmith, welder, carpenter, electrician, plumber and all-round problem solver. His sense of humor has lifted all our spirits over the years. Mike and Linda are blessed by two daughters, Denise Chase and Julie Walborn, a god son John Cutler, and a god daughter Marcia Plavcan. They have also thoroughly enjoyed their four grandchildren, Alec and Jocelyn Walborn and Ryan and Claire Chase. Memorials may be given to the Cincinnati Museum Center.
